Iron Horses
10 am on the 27-12-2016. The doors open and the men and a few families flooded in: for the Iron horses are on display. What more could one want after the Christmas indulgence. Now the chatter will start as our visitors circulate. For it’s the annual Keighley Model Railway Club’s Christmas open day.
There is an added bonus that the ladies in the kitchen will have bacon butties for sale, whilst those visitors with more funds left over after the festivities, will no doubt check out the club sales stand, looking for that long wanted elusive item, or even a bargain or two.
But foremost for many, including me, its a good day and place to greet old friends and make a few new ones.
Yes memories are a very individual thing.
I really like the spin you took on this Michael, it is very interesting! Great story about “iron horses.” Love it!
Thank you so much PJ
Bacon butties? Cookie? Bacon creation??
Sorry athling, Butties is a much used slang word for Sandwich. There where also Cookies available but I resisted the temptation. I don’t often manage to do that.
Great story Michael
Thank you Michael. This post really should have gone under my memoirs. At the event which got stuck in my head I managed a model railway layout designed for children to use. It was great fun, and so the memories got fixed, I could not write anything else until I had penned Iron Horses
Memories may be a personal thing but to each of us they are priceless I think. Sounds like a great day Michael, butties and all…
Ah! memories, and you ignite them very well. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS.
Thank you Neel, your comments ensure the writer in me keeps writing. I am looking forward to seeing how we all develope our writing in the new year.
Enjoyable story. Iron Horse…I haven’t heard that expression in a very long time. There is always a time for more excitement and something different to look at and things to buy. I agree, it is a great time to meet people and enjoy a good conversation sharing experiences, likes, and dislikes.
Thank you for commenting, the romance of chasing or riding the Iron Horse is passing. But thankfully we can write and talk about them still, in this New Year.
