Sunflowers
So much is grim this year. That is until I look up at the sunflowers. Their golden globes tower over a carpet of scarlet nasturtiums. As I pick plump pods full of sweet tender peas, the smell of newly mown grass drifts on the breeze. Nearby the chatter of young children heralds new life. Lives that will face unknown challenges. Yes life is full of challenges. Should I have salt or pepper on my thinly sliced tomato. At least, I think that it is better to be a gardener than a star.
Those seem like good priorities to me
Just spent three hours weeding the vegetable patch… Next years I think that I will grow more flowers.
This chap has his priorities correct.

Surprising how many of us have gone back to old-fashioned pursuits–and are the better for it!
So true Linda, I have enjoyed once again planting and growing veg and flowers,
Dear Michael,
This sounds like a person who has his priorities in the right place. Nicely done.
Shalom,

Rochelle, I wish I could say the same about my writing.
Better to be a gardener than a star. I love that line. Sounds like a sweet life well lived.
We humans often forget that there can be great pleasure in working hand in hand with nature
One good thing from the enforced lockdown this year – the slowing down of life and the return to simpler pastimes. I hope some of them are here to stay.
I also hope for that Iain.
I like the priorities, but still hear the longing in the phrase “golden globes”!
You caught me out. Paula
My mom would agree with that sentiment. Her garden is her star.
Sometimes better to focus on the positive. You live in a beautiful place, which makes it easier to do, I think.
That is true. Stay well. Mike
