Skipton today

A VW at Skipton classic motor showm
VW camper at Skipton

In Skipton the high street is closed to traffic for the day, instead it is thronged with people enjoying themselves. A classic car event has taken over the high street. The weather today is glorious and so are the classic vehicles. For myself, I enjoy seeing so many people having a great free day out in Skipton. The organisers of this show are encouraging charitable giving for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at this event, including a air ambulance sale stand. Quite a few of the cars had their engines on display, what a pleasure it was to see the engine technology of the 1950’s. At todays show my two favourite vehicles were both VWs, one a blue and white bay windowed camper, and the second was a very smart VW Samba with its all its windows and it’s rag top open. After a refreshment stop at my favorate coffee shop, I had my camera busy clicking, unfortunately the vehicles on the high street were so closely parked together, I doubt I have many usable photos.

Now if anyone from Skipton town council reads this blog, I had two points of concern about this event. One due to the close proximity of the vehicles, visitors to the event were at risk of falling due to the hidden and neglected state of the high streets cobbles. Secondly many people had taken their dogs to this event, as it was a gloriously hot day, it would have been good if a supply of clean water had been available for the dogs and anyone else needing to cool down. Otherwise well done Skipton town council and Skipton BID for supporting this event. More details about this event are available at  http://www.skiptoncarshow.com.  Mike.
