Just Like That

Solomon Ward allowed his veranda chair to swing, the gentle moment at least stirred the harsh heat of the desert. Slowly the pieces of an idea where coming together. An idea that would make Solomon and his family fabulously wealthy. The planet had suffered greatly over the last two centuries from climatic extremes. Just like Solomon’s brain as it calculated the mathematical logarithms needed to bring the exchange unit into being.

Soon every window on the planet had a Solomon inspired devise fitted. The beauty of Solomon’s devise was that it worked both ways. Turning hot air into cool refreshing air, and turning steely cold air into gently warming air. Now humanity would be able to live anywhere. NASA had even started a Solomon inspired project to develope Venus. Solomon Ward lay back on his swinging bench chair and briefly wondered, had he done the right thing. Then he set to work working on his next project, converting Carbon Dioxide in ….

  1. You posed the question, did he do the right thing? It reminded me of the quote from Jurassic Park, “your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could they didn’t stop to think if they should.” The value of a scientific advance can only be seen in hindsight.

    1. I do sometimes wonder how many scientists would undo or hide their findings, in light of where those findings would develope to, if that scientist could see the future !! Thank you Susan .
