Call Out

It is getting hard to carry on, but we will, until the last sailor is off. In all my years at sea, I don’t think that I have seen such a storm. When the call went out, I ran for the only craft capable of cutting though the tumultuous ocean. Yes I and the others felt fear, for we know the treacherous nature of the sea. But seeing women and children in danger of being swept to their death from the deck of a ship. We had to try and help.

Tonight is a night that perhaps I and others may not see the end of. Few who do not sail the oceans know what it is like to face such storms. However tonight Lot’s Wife and the Needles will not claim lives. Not if I and the others can help it.

Footnote: I dedicate this story to those who over the years have saved life’s at sea.
