August and the Seaside.

Today seems more like an October day than the eleventh of August, so on our way to St Anne’s we took a detour to Preston, and visited the Harris Art Gallery. After a later lunch we continued via the old coastal route to the sand dunes at St Anne’s. Sadly with the continuing drizzle and harsh wind, our stay on the beach was brief. But it was good to have a day out with the grandchildren and to see my sister.

  1. It’s funny you should go to Lytham St. Annes in August and have awful weather. We were there in February (before going on to Blackpool) and it was a lovely, sunny day. The weather’s all back to front this year!
Preston isn’t far from my hometown of Southport. I miss it like mad. Nottinghamshire is much too far from the sea, for my liking. 🙂

      1. Really? My aunt and uncle lived in Much Hoole in the 1960s. I know it well. It’s a small world, Michael. Southport will always be the place I long to be, but my six children in Nottinghamshire hold a greater pull.
