The windmill had remained empty for many years, silence ruled in it’s cold heart. The miller Mr Johnson had died intestate and family wrangles had kept the mill silence for twenty years. Today a new owner had purchased the mill Mr Ali Qurishi, he intended to put the mill back to work. His first action was to fetch the two family querns and place them in the mill, good karma was everything. Now he fetched the family and told them to set the querns to work and produce stone ground flour. Fame came in small portions, the family prospered.

  1. Dear Michael,

Quern…new word for me, too. No need for apostrophe though. querns, not quern’s. An apostrophe denotes possession not plural. Aside from that, a good story.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
